The Test of the True Believer

It's rare that something I find on Instagram's "Explore" page makes me think, but this week it happened:

It’s not faith until it looks like it won’t happen, and you choose to believe anyway.
— Amanda Frances

Amanda Frances is a money coach, which may generate an "oh puh-leeze" reaction from you, but let's be honest: How often do we say we have faith in ourselves, in something we want to do, in a particular outcome, and when the going gets tough we give up because it's too much work, or we didn't want or like it anyway, or it won't happen, rather than choosing to hold the faith and act accordingly? This quote made its way to my phone's lock screen and has already earned its prime real estate when I caught myself saying one thing and thinking or doing another.

What do you say you have faith in but don't really?
