Weekly Share: Susan David, “Emotional Agility”

“Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life.”

…says Harvard Medical School psychologist Susan David, PhD. She speaks and writes about emotional agility, which she defines as “the capacity to see ourselves and others in a wholehearted and healthy way”.

One of the key steps in my journey has been to learn to identify my emotions and where they’re coming from, and Susan’s book “Emotional Agility” (IndieBound, Amazon) opened the door.

Alternatively, her conversation with Tom Bilyeu (Apple, Spotify, YouTube) packs a lot of information in less than an hour. She explains why emotions aren’t “good” or “bad”, how being granular about our emotions can help us create healthier relationships at home and at work, how to create a space of acceptance and love for ourselves and others, how to start identifying our personal values and much more. A great listen on your morning run or weekend round of errands.
