You Can Learn a Lot in Two Hours

I’m obsessed with beautiful textiles. I buy throws even when I run out of chairs to put them on, and dream of the day when my living space doesn’t double as my studio so I can have a proper rug. When I started creating art seriously, it’s no wonder I felt the urge to create textile art.

The extent of my textile-making knowledge was… they’re woven somehow.

But then I took a $12, two-hour online class about rug weaving. And now I have six rugs I’m making into an art piece. I didn’t study anywhere else or get any certificates. I decided on the pattern, ordered the materials based on the list the instructor gave, and started.

That’s the beauty of living at this time in history. The world is insane, but you can google some random topic, take a cheap class by a top expert, and learn enough to start experimenting within hours. You don’t need to quit your job, study for years, or gain approval from some gatekeeper.

You just start.

What have you always wanted to learn that you can get started on in two hours?

P.S. Please do the thought exercise of how this applies to you, not how it doesn't...
