Give Yourself Permission

Give yourself permission
To feel you’re in the wrong life
To hate what used to be your dream
To let go of what others would kill for
To care about the money, just not enough to stay

To not know what you want, only “not this”
To dream of a life that is decidedly unrealistic from where you stand
To believe that being responsible means pursuing unrealistic dreams
To want what no one thinks is important—except your 10-year-old self

To be a bad son or daughter by the standards you grew up on, a world or two ago
To set the wrong example for your children in that obsolete world
To disappoint those who know precisely how to live your life
To let go of your mind’s directions when your soul knows the way

To be okay with making a big mistake
To go from knowing you’ll conquer the world to lamenting the mistake you made
To worry about the future and keep going anyway
To regret the past and decide to live without regrets

To gain such clarity that a humble leaf looks greener than it ever has before
To feel as if you’re seeing the world for the first time today
To forget about it tomorrow
To remember again someday.
