Weekly Share: Steven Pressfield, “The War of Art”

Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.
— Steven Pressfield

If you struggle to start or make progress on a project of any kind due to self-doubt, fear or procrastination, you must read Steven Pressfield’s seminal book, “The War of Art” (IndieBound, Amazon)

Despite the name, the book is in no way specific to art or artists. Pressfield coined the term “Resistance” to describe the universal force that prevents us from taking the steps we need to in order to realize our potential and our dreams - any dream.

This book made me see that I’m not alone and there’s nothing unique about my fears or endless procrastination. Everyone experiences this struggle and feels this force that seems to keep new endeavors out of reach. It also zapped every possible excuse I had for not doing what I knew I wanted to do. I hope this quick and profound read does the same for you.
